Mantras and Meditations with Joan Uemura Shure

Sunday, May, 3rd

2-3:30pm $40

In this nourishing 90 minute workshop, we gently awaken the voice and body as gateways into meditation.

We’ll begin by warming up — softening the body, opening the breath, and exploring simple vocal practices to prepare for singing. No experience is needed. This is not about performance, but presence.

Together, we will learn three peace mantras allowing their rhythms and meanings to settle into us. We’ll close with a “sea of Oms,” layering our voices into a shared field of sound — immersive, resonant, and deeply calming.

Singing is one of the most accessible ways to enter meditation. Through vibration and breath, the nervous system softens, the mind quiets, and the heart opens.

Joan brings over 25 years of devoted practice to her teaching, which began in 2010. Yoga has been a steady companion through every season of her life, and she feels deeply honored to share these ancient lineages of connection with her community.

Certified through Santa Monica Yoga, Joan has continued her studies in Power Yoga, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Nada Yoga (the Yoga of Sound), and Trauma-Informed Yoga.  Her classes gently weave mantra, mindful pranayama, and strands of yogic philosophy into a grounded, accessible practice.

Joan’s teaching is a heartfelt invitation to pause in a fast-moving world—to soften, to listen, and to return home to yourself—guided by breath, presence, and intention.
